JNU's Urban High-Quality Development Research Think Tank is one of 16 selected as key support units in the Guangzhou New Think Tanks Construction Project for three years.The selection is an important breakthrough in the in-depth cooperation between JNU and the local party committee and government on building new types of think tanks. 

Led by the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee's publicity committee, the project aims to build a number of new think tanks that can meet Guangzhou’s needs, feature distinctive characteristics, make institutional innovation, lead development and enjoy national fame. Ten of the think tanks selected are key support think tanks, and 6 are cooperative construction think tanks. 

JNU's think tank fully integrates its interdisciplinary high-quality resources of economics, management, political science, journalism and communication, ecology, literature and other disciplines. It focuses on urban industrial development; construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; the international transformation of cities; construction of green and low-carbon cities; and modernization of the public opinion and urban governance system. With forward-looking and targeted research, this think tank strives to serve urban modernization with Chinese characteristics and Guangzhou’s high-quality development while providing a brand-new platform to support foreign exchanges and policy mutual learning. It is expected to produce high-quality research results by giving full play to JNU's advantages; taking the initiative to serve the overall development; and further building a high-level project database, talent database and information database, thus contributing to Guangzhou's high-quality development.
