Prof. Huang Guoquan, dean of the Institute of the Internet of Things and Logistics Engineering on JNU's Zhuhai campus, has been elected an IEEE Fellow, according to the list of new Fellows released on Nov. 22 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Huang was elected for his contributions on digitization framework and cyber-physical analytics for smart manufacturing.
A national overseas high-level talent, he has been selected for the National Overseas Talent Introduction Program and the Major Talent Project in Guangdong. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the U.K., a chartered engineer in the U.K. and a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has served in over 35 academic roles, including Asia-Pacific editor for the International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, deputy editor -in chief of the International Journal of Production Research and regional editor of the Bio-Medical Materials and Engineering Journal, among others. He has been engaged in research on intelligent manufacturing, intelligent logistics, cyber-physical internet and system analysis.
Huang has published over 400 academic papers in his field, with over 300 of them indexed by SCI, EI, and ISTP. His work has been widely cited by peers, and several of his papers are among the most extensively cited in the global top 1% in their respective fields. He has been recognized as one of the scholars most widely cited in the global top 1% in related domains. He is the author or co-author of 25 monographs, including translated works, and has been granted more than 30 patents. He has undertaken over 30 key research projects, accumulating research funds of more than HK$150 million. He has received 17 major awards, including first prize in the Ministry of Education's Natural Science Awards, first prize in the Science and Technology Progress Awards from Guangdong Province, and the Science and Technology Cooperation Award from Guangdong.
