Guangzhou, November 23, 2023 - Liu Weizhi, a talented and dedicated doctoral student at Jinan University's School of Medicine, has been making remarkable strides in the field of medicine. With his passion for dermatology and commitment to fostering collaboration between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, Liu is injecting new vitality into medical cooperation and exchanges among young professionals in the Greater Bay Area.

Liu's journey began in 2016 when he made the bold decision to pursue his medical studies in Guangzhou. Despite facing initial challenges due to language barriers and cultural differences, Liu took the initiative to learn Mandarin and actively participated in various activities to integrate into the Jinan University community.

Over the years, Liu's hard work and perseverance paid off. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Sun Yat-sen University and a master's degree from the University of Hong Kong, Liu set his sights on dermatology and the Greater Bay Area. Choosing Jinan University to pursue his doctoral studies, Liu embarked on a path of continuous growth and professional development.

Under the guidance of his mentor, Professor Deng Liehua, Liu deepened his knowledge and research interests in dermatology. He actively participated in academic exchange meetings and even competed in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Young Dermatology Teacher Teaching Competition, where he won the second prize. Liu's dedication to improving his communication skills and expression ability was evident in his pursuit of becoming a well-rounded medical practitioner.

Not content with personal achievements, Liu founded a mutual aid group for medical students covering Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. The group aims to bridge the information gap and foster collaboration among colleagues in the medical field. With three sub-groups already established, Liu plans to formalize the group as an association and collaborate with more organizations to hold offline sharing meetings and activities. Through these efforts, he hopes to provide valuable resources and opportunities for medical professionals in the Greater Bay Area.
