JNU organized the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Informatization Forum from Nov. 3 to 5. During this forum, the 2023 Annual Academic Conference and the third meeting of the First Academic Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of TCM Informatization were held.
Xia Qifeng, second-level inspector at the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, said he hoped the lab, in seizing the development opportunity of the times, would strengthen scientific research in the field, enhancing scientific support for the prevention and treatment of diseases in which Chinese medicine has a prominent advantage over but not Western medicine.

Chen Keji, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a TCM grand master, said TCM Informatization is a key support that promoted the inheritance, innovation and development of TCM. The Key Lab has made gratifying achievements in the last three years through its commitment to serving the major needs of TCM development and industrialisation in China and Guangdong, he said.

Yao Xinsheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the JNU Institute of TCM and Natural Medicine, fully affirmed the lab’s achievements. He also said it took the lead in exploring the application of “artificial intelligence + big data + cloud computing” in TCM informatization, propelling the lab into the intelligent era; facilitating the in-depth integration of industry, academia and research; and driving the sound development of the informatization.

JNU Vice President Zhang Hong welcomed the experts, teachers and students attending the forum. He said JNU would keep promoting the development of TCM informatization in the hope that the lab would take this opportunity to continuously integrate key technology, with the research and development of equipment, to establish a new situation of TCM informatization.
The forum invited seven experts to speak. In addition, the conference set up a Youth Academic Forum, in which 12 young scholars reported their research results and exchanged ideas with experts on how to deepen their research by using information technology.
