When a passenger became ill on a flight from Guangzhou to Sydney on Oct. 16, a professor of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in JNU's College of Pharmacy saved her.
At 8:25 a.m., six hours after takeoff, flight attendants suddenly announced that an Indian woman was suffering from dizziness and vomiting without any sign of recovery, and they were urgently sought medical help for her.
Ma Min, a TCM professor from JNU, immediately rushed over together with his colleagues to check her patient's condition, with a nurse who was also passenger at the scene.
The patient's dizziness and vomiting had grown more serious as time passed, and she had a pale face and shortness of breath. After telling her about his medical background and obtaining her consent, Ma immediately provided emergency treatment. Her physical condition gradually improved.
The flight landed safely in Sydney at 7:50 p.m. Upon smooth landing, the China Southern Airlines crew and the patient's family thanked Ma, saying, You let us witness the magic and effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine.
