At the end of August, JNU welcomed its new students for the academic year. In this season of new beginnings, freshman Wang Yujie's sailboat crossed paths with the crimson sailboat of JNU.

Besides being a new student at JNU, Wang is a national-level athlete in the model sailboat project.

For Wang, the project is not just a game but also a sport. He has won third place in the NAVIGA World Sailing Model Championship in the F5-E category, third place in the F5-10 category, and second place in the F5-M category.

At the young age of 11, Wang traveled abroad for the first time to compete. When he arrived at the airport in the national team uniform, he said, the crowd’s warmth and encouragement made him deeply understand the significance and expectations that come with being a national team member.
Model sailing is not Wang's whole life. He not only steers the sailboat but also charts his course for the future.
"Optoelectronics now has seen significant development," he said, "and I have a strong interest in optoelectronic information science and engineering." Deeply drawn to the mysteries of light and electricity, Wang chose that field as his major.

As a JNU freshman, Wang has set a goal: to secure a recommendation for postgraduate studies. He is also his class monitor.

Enjoy your life, live in the moment, and achieve your goals. These are Wang's encouragement and expectations for himself.
