JNU Vice President Weng Jian, accompanied by a faculty team, inspected laboratory safety and instrumentation on Panyu campus on Sept. 15.

The team visited units including the Institute of Nanophotonics, the School of Medicine, and the College of Chemistry and Materials Science, to learn in detail about the lab safety system, safety training, the main responsibility for safety, investigation and remediation of potential danger, and the use and open sharing of valuable instruments and equipment.

Weng emphasized that every unit must take responsibility for safety management and improve the safety mechanism. He also said units should carry out lab safety training in a hierarchical manner, improve efficiency in using valuable instruments and equipment, and enhance the level of laboratory safety management to make it better for teaching, research and social services.
