The launch ceremony for the third Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area College Students Advertising Festival and the 16th Guangdong College Student Advertising Festival was held in Haizhu district on Sept 26.
This year's festival, with the theme of Bay of Gravity, Time for Creativity, was guided by the Guangdong Market Regulation Administration; organized by Jinan University and the Guangdong Advertising Association; and co-organized by the Hong Kong Commercial Publicity Association and the Association of Advertising Agents of Macao. It was hosted by the Guangzhou Shengda Advertising Group Co., Ltd., and JNU’s College of Journalism and Communication.
The festival has been held for 16 sessions over 24 years. In recent years it has attracted hundreds of thousands of students from more than 200 universities in China and abroad.
Prof. Zhang Jianmin, deputy secretary of the Party Committee in the College of Journalism and Communication, spoke on “Practical Training Ability” and “Unleashing New Ideas in the Greater Bay Area,” encouraging students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.
Chen Dianlong, president of the Guangdong Advertising Association, said Chinas modernization had put forward higher requirements for industry education, research and talent cultivation in advertising. He also said the association would continue to leverage its advantages in resources and coordination to achieve better collaboration across discipline, industry and region, promoting the high-quality development of the advertising industry.
Yang Kaisi, chairman of the Shengda Group, announced the overall plan of learning through competition, putting forward the goal of cultivating applied, compound and innovative advertising talents who can unite knowing and doing, and who can brighten the Greater Bay Area and spread its charm with their wonderful creativity and ideas.”
Representatives of several well-known brands, including Wanglaoji, Jueweiyabo, GAC Trumpchi, Howline Medie, Kosbio and Fingerbook, passed on their valuable and useful experience to the students. The festival's grand prize this year is reportedly the Trumpchi Empow, a sedan worth about 150,000 yuan.
Going forward, the College Students Advertising Festival, founded by the College of Journalism and Communication in 1999, is committed to building a large-scale cultural exchange activity pooling the young creative forces of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
