School leaders and representatives of JNU teachers and students attended, those on the Zhuhai and Shenzhen campuses online. Other students and faculty members watched the livestream.
With Devoted to education, ready to build a powerful country as its theme, the ceremony had four parts – commencement, honors, retirement and oath-taking ceremonies— respectively expressing congratulations, homage, gratitude and welcome to all JNU faculty members.
The ceremony commended individuals and teams who made key and significant achievements and contributions in the 2022-23 school year, as well as advanced collectives and individuals who received teaching and research awards and were honored by higher-level departments.
It also included an honors ceremony for faculty members who have worked at JNU for 30 years, a retirement ceremony for those who have retired in 2023 and an oath-taking ceremony for new faculty members who have joined since last September.
School leaders conferred school badges on representatives of new faculty members. Chen Zhenqiang, director of the JNU Party Committee's Faculty Affairs Office and Department of Human Resources Development Management, led the swearing-in.
