The Guangzhou Municipal Government has approved the Partial Adjustment of the Detailed Regulatory Planning for Jinan University Panyu Campus (BB0301 Planning Administrative Unit). The Panyu campus is south of the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, east of the Nansha Harbor Expressway and north of the Guangzhou-Gaoming Expressway. The optimized plan has a total gross floor area of 1.22 million square meters. Increasing construction volume by 400,000 square meters, the added area will help solve the long-standing bottleneck of the school's spatial development, and also lay a solid foundation for the future teaching and learning development. 

The plan was developed mainly in accordance with JNU's development strategy of Overseas Chinese University + Famous University. Taking famous first-class schools in Asia as a benchmark, it combines such JNU characteristics as a university for overseas Chinese with the demand for long-term school-running, and improving JNU's scale and construction standards.

According to the readjustment plan, the Panyu campus will build a new bus terminal and a 110-kilovolt substation on separate sites. It will also have one waste compression station with a site area of 1,600 square meters and one kindergarten (nine classes) with 3,500 square meters, whose location can be further implemented at the stage of revision of the planning while ensuring that the facilities' scale will not be reduced. The development and construction of the Talent Apartment is to be in accordance with the relevant provisions and requirements.
