JNU held its 2023 matriculation ceremony, undergraduate military training mobilization meeting and freshmen training camp opening ceremony on the Shipai, Panyu, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Guangyuandong campuses on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. JNU leaders and representatives of its colleges and departments attended.
JNU enrolled more than 7,600 freshmen, 5,800 graduate students and 600 doctoral students at the end of August. Over 14,000 students from around the world gathered to start a new journey.

At the opening ceremony on Shipai campus, JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng welcomed the freshmen, and introduced JNU's characteristics and strength to them.

Lin also put forward three hopes for the freshmen: that they would have great ambitions for making China stronger, constantly strive for self-improvement, and be broad-minded and tolerant of diversity.
At the opening ceremony on Panyu campus, President Song Xianzhong congratulated the new students and provided three points of guidance based on his 30 years at JNU:that they should inherit JNU's excellent tradition of patriotism, temper their indomitable spirit, and foster an open and inclusive mind.

At the undergraduate military training mobilization meeting and the flag-awarding ceremony of the freshmen training camp on these five campuses, JNU leaders presented the camp flag to the freshmen representatives.
