JNU's 7,589 new freshmen and 6,410 postgraduates registered on Aug. 29.
The university held several meetings to prepare for orientation work, specially formulating the work plan for welcoming new students this semester. It also set up the registration office, consisting of several working groups for accommodation, security, enrollment, logistics and volunteer service. The use of digital technology improved the orientation work's efficiency.

JNU continued to adopt the Leading the Way program to provide convenient and helpful welcome services for new students, who can connect with their senior schoolmates online through the Freshmen Orientation column of JNU's official WeChat account. The senior schoolmates offered information about the university, including the registration procedure and the arrangement and content of the orientation before registration. They also welcomed, accompanied and helped the new students in registering on the first day of school.
