JNU held the signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation agreement with GF Securities, the inauguration ceremony of the JNU Research Center for Mesoeconomics and the first Frontier Forum on Mesoeconomics on June 10.

At the signing ceremony, JNU President Song Xianzhong indicated that the two parties took this step in response to national strategic guidelines and policies, aiming to deepen the strategy of strengthening China through talents, and to promote financial business and real economic development. It marks a new stage in their cooperation.

Ge Changwei, party committee secretary and vice chairman of GF Securities, said the company had supported national development strategies and kept in mind its corporate values of inquisitiveness and integrity, maintaining a strong sense of family and country. The company has ranked among the top 10 domestic brokerage firms for 29 consecutive years in major business indexes. Ge also said he hoped the two parties could work together to help facilitate the high-quality economic and social development of Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area.

Song presented appointment letters to Chen Yunxian, chairman of the JNU Mesoeconomics Academic Committee, and to the committee's first members: Zhang Jun, dean of Fudan University's School of Economics; Zhang Jianhua, dean of Huazhong University of Science and Technology's School of Economics; and Shen Minggao and Guo Lei, two chief economists of GF Securities.

Chen, former vice governor of Guangdong, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support of JNU and GF Securities and participants from various universities. With JNU's strong support he said, mesoeconomics – a new discipline between microeconomics and macroeconomics that studies the economic activities of a certain sector, group or region – has grown from a course to becoming a second-level discipline, and now has its own research center. Chen said he hoped JNU would make a real contribution to Chinese-style modernization with the guide of new platforms like the research center.

The Frontier Forum on Mesoeconomics invited eight renowned experts and scholars to give academic reports. Focused on topics including Competent Government, Effective Market and Chinese Modernization, the forum conducted a wide range of in-depth discussions on discipline development and academic interaction, effectively disseminating the theory and ideas of mesoeconomics.
