Jinan University and Huaqiao University held their 2023 Joint Entrance Examinations for Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas, as well as Chinese with foreign nationality and international students (joint admissions), in Guangzhou, Xiamen, Hong Kong and Macao from May 13 to 14. The main examination venue was on JNU's Shipai campus in Guangzhou. A total of 6,267 students applied for the exam this year – an increase of 2,061, or nearly 50%, over last year, with a record 6,068 applying to JNU as their first choice.

In addition, JNU was to hold the 2023 National Joint Entrance Examinations for Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students from May 20 to 21, as authorized by the China Joint University Admissions Office, with the Shipai campus as the Guangzhou exam venue. JNU consolidated responsibilities, refined the workflow and implemented the arrangements. JNU will also steadily promote enrollment in the Preparatory College; applications for the Joint Admission Examination for Macao Four Higher Education Institutions and the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education; and the application audit for overseas Chinese and Chinese with foreign nationality
