JNU Vice President Hong An led a research team to the Qujiang district of Shaoguan city, Guangdong, from April 26 to 27 for basic education pairing support, a full-bore, all-around, immersive activity. Accompanying the team were Zhang Xiulan, Standing Committee member and chief of the Publicity Department of the Qujiang District Party Committee; Jiang Hui, vice district mayor; Hua Jianfang, director of the district’s Education Bureau; and Xiao Fuwen, director of the district's Center for Teaching and Learning Development.
During a symposium, Jiang said JNU had used its superior resources effectively to enhance basic education in the Qujiang district steadily through a series of training courses and support in such fields as mental health, ideological and political education, information technology for education and teaching. Despite these efforts, he said, Qujiang still lags behind the Pearl River Delta and other developed regions in basic education. Jiang predicted that JNU would bring more quality education resources to the district, assisting its development.
Hua discussed the current state, work plans and challenges faced by Qujiang's basic education. He also highlighted the disparity in resource allocation and development levels between urban and rural compulsory education within the district. He said he hoped to promote the development level of basic education in Qujiang with the support of universities.
