The Embassy Diplomats' China Tour-Guangdong Branch, hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange, was launched at Jinan University on May 10 with its first exchange symposium. The event aimed to deepen the understanding of educational development in Guangdong among diplomats in China, and to promote exchanges and cooperation among higher education institutions in Guangdong and Europe. Representatives from the diplomatic delegations of France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Moldova attended.

JNU Vice President Zhang Hong welcomed the guests on behalf of the university and described JNU's operational circumstances and educational achievements gained through cooperation with its European counterparts. Over the years, he said, JNU has maintained good ties with many European universities and scientific research institutions. He said he believed the symposium would deepen exchanges and research cooperation at the school level and among teachers and students at JNU and European universities. He also said he hoped the symposium would enhance JNU's international recognition and popularity, and promote cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity between China and Europe.

During the free-wheeling discussion session, diplomats from Europe introduced their countries' basic situation, educational system, higher education institutions and educational exchanges with China. They all expressed expectations for more extensive, in-depth international exchanges and cooperation in education with Chinese colleges and universities, especially those in Guangdong, to promote academic and cultural prosperity and development between countries.

Leaders from Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, South China Normal University, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangdong Polytechnic of Industry and Commerce and Guangzhou Health Science College also described their operational situations and the fruits of their cooperation with Europe.
