A team led by Prof. Ning Yin of JNU's College of Chemistry and Materials Science has published a new strategy for the synthesis of artificial biominerals with hierarchically-ordered structure in Angewandte Chemie International Edition. The research, titled Controlled Deformation of Soft Nanogel Particles Generates Artificial Biominerals with Ordered Internal Structure, puts forward an occlusion strategy for deformation and orientation, realizing morphological deformation and preferential orientation of the polymer gel particles within mineral host crystals for the first time.

The first authors are Dong Yingxiang, a master's degree candidate at JNU, and Dr. Chi Jialin of Huazhong Agricultural University. The research was funded by the National Project for Distinguished Young Scholars, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Basic and Applied Basic Research Project of Guangzhou, and the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities.
