JNU held a meeting on April 6 for mobilization of the ninth China International College Students' Internet + Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and Commendation for the Luxiang Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award. The meeting summed up performance in the 2022 competition, making preparations for this year's and honoring teams receiving the Luxiang Award. He Qingwen, president of JNU's School of Entrepreneurship, presided over the meeting, which was attended by nearly 100 teachers and students, including Vice President Weng Jian; leaders of relevant functional departments at the university; innovation and entrepreneurship leaders from various colleges, research institutes. and related personnel.
Weng thanked the teachers and students who took an active part in the previous Internet + competitions, as well as the various sectors of society, alumni, and alumni companies who have long supported innovation and entrepreneurship education at JNU. He also recognized past achievements in the 8th Internet + and made arrangements for this year's competition.
To improve innovation and entrepreneurship education and enhance innovative talent-training, Ke Rongqing, chairman of Luxiang Investment Co., Ltd., and member of JNU’s board of trustees, has established the JNU Luxiang Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fund. According to the Management Measures on JNU Luxiang Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fund, the selection is to be be conducted campus-wide for commendation of advanced models in innovation and entrepreneurship education to provide incentives for teacher and students engagement. The goal is to foster a strong atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship, and to raise the level of innovation and entrepreneurship education at JNU.
The School of Entrepreneurship teams Sea of Voices, Vision for the Future, Turning Diabetes into Safety, and Ruilai Technology from earned them Luxiang Awards in last year's competition.
Founded in 2015, Internet + is considered China’s No. 1 competition for talent cultivation in innovation and entrepreneurship. Last year's competition started in April 2022, with more than 14.5 million college students from 111 countries and regions submitting over 3.4 million projects, showcasing theirpassion for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Over the last five years, JNU's entries and awards have increased. With the concerted efforts of teachers and students, the 2022 competition registered 1,825 JNU projects entered, a 77% increase over the previous year, and 7,880 students participating. Last year, JNU won three gold, seven silver and 11 bronze medals in the provincial competition and one gold, three silver and two bronze medals in the national competition, including the gold medal for the Sea of Voices project in the Red Journey track — JNU's first gold medal in that track.
