I am finally back! excitedly exclaimed Su Bing, an Indian international student majoring in clinical medicine at JNU. In 2023, Su Bing set foot on the land of China again after she left China three years ago.
When JNU's Office of International Exchange and Cooperation held a research activity about rural revitalization on March 16, outstanding representatives of international students and Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas were invited to visit Maicun village in Guangzhou's Huangpu District and 1978 Movie Town in the Zengcheng District to enjoy the new style of rural China and better understand its development.

Because of the pandemic, most international students have had to take online courses in their home countries for the last three years. With the COVID-19 situation improving and the adjustment of policies on foreigners' visas and entry to China, it is now possible for international students to come back to Chinese colleges.
According to incomplete statistics by JNU, more than 660 international students have returned to JNU this semester for in-person courses, with the figure expected to increase further.
According to Pu Ruoxi, director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, JNU's international students come from more than 100 countries and regions around the world. JNU has formed a complete talent-training system providing education ranging from short-term, non-formal language education to full-time doctoral studies, in disciplines covering Chinese language, economic management, international relations, clinical medicine, information science, etc.
As China’s comprehensive national strength continues to improve, China has become Asia's top study abroad destination. As a century-old university for overseas Chinese, JNU plays an important role in receiving Chinese students with foreign nationality, overseas Chinese students and international students.
JNU is cultivating a high-quality education system and exploring high-quality education models for overseas study programs. By providing systematic instruction to different groups of international students while offering precise and focused instruction to individuals, the university takes international students’ knowledge and competency structure into comprehensive consideration, aiming to enhance their classroom learning outcomes. Meanwhile, JNU is gradually establishing a general education system for international students, based on Chinese language and China Overview courses, to help them acquire professional knowledge while gaining a better understanding of China and integrating into the country.
