JNU held the fifth Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Ecological Environment Forum on March 30. In the theme Beautiful Bay Area: Biodiversity, the forum discussed biodiversity conservation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to promote national economic development and ecological protection.

In a speech at the opening ceremony, Cai Dafeng, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, pointed out that the association focuses on biodiversity conservation and regional development strategies. Cai said the Greater Bay Area was one of the regions with the strongest economic vitality and the richest biodiversity in China. He said that the Greater Bay Area had actively explored and promoted economic construction and environmental protection, and achieved important achievements and valuable experience in biodiversity conservation.
A short video reviewing the previous four forums and a promotional video titled Building a Beautiful Homeland With Harmonious Coexistence Between Humanity and Nature were shown at the opening ceremony.
During the discussion session, experts and scholars also discussed urban biodiversity conservation and marine biodiversity in the Greater Bay Area.
