Li Baojun, Xin Hongbao and other professors in JNU's Institute of Nanophotonics have reported great progress in opto-hydrodynamic diatombot. They put forward a biocompatible opto-hydrodynamic diatombot based on optical trapping navigated rotational diatom (Phaeodactylum tricornutum Bohlin), which can be directly applied to non-invasive trapping and removal of nano-biothreats like viruses, pathogenic bacteria and mycoplasmas during culturing of precious cells such as hippocampal neurons. Their research results have been published in Advanced Science, an international academic journal. The first author is Xiong Jianyun, a doctoral student in the institute, and Li and Xin are co-corresponding authors.
