Wang Duo, a doctoral student in JNU's First Clinical Medical School, is modest and hard-working. Within a year, he has published five Science Citation Index (SCI) papers with the highest impact factor of 18.9 points. (Impact factor is a Reuters index to evaluate journals' influence.) Four of these papers were published in China Academy of Sciences (CAS) Tier 1 Journals, three of them as co-first author.

Influenced deeply by my family, I've shown great interest in medical science since I was a child, Wang said. I was also fascinated by images. These interests led me to choose a major related to medical imaging. From his undergraduate major, medical imageology, to his master's and doctoral specialty, medical imaging and nuclear medicine, Wang has stays true to his original aspiration.
There is a certain correlation among the research results, as they all focus on tumor immunotherapy and accurate assessment of imaging efficacy, Wang said. We have made progress in the interdisciplinary research on precise tumor diagnosis and treatment, but there is still room for improvement.”

Thanks to his widely recognized research results and overall strength, Wang won first prizes in the Young Scholars Forum and the prestigious Jinan Medical Lindau Youth Science Award, which offers young scholars opportunities to attend international conferences for scientists, such as the Lindau Nobel Laureate Conference in Lindau, Germany.

For his doctoral study, Wang chose Jinan University primarily because of his admiration for his current supervisor, Prof. Luo Liangping. “I prefer to work autonomously, and Prof. Luo provides guidance in the general direction and maximum support for my research.”

Wang continues the tradition of the old leading the new, regularly guiding and assisting his younger colleagues with their experiments. He plays the dual role of coordinator and facilitator. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, but since starting his postgraduate studies, he has focused on his research work and given up many leisure activities. For nearly six years, Wang has cultivated the habit of reading five pieces of literature every day.

Wang is determined to go further in scientific research and work hard to delve deeper into his current research in the years to come.
