The finals of the 12th HuaGang Cup Guangdong University Student Materials Innovation Competition were held on JNU's Panyu Campus on March 26.
Thirty teams entered the final defense, engaging in knowledge exchange and academic communication through presentation and defense.
The project Micro PMS inducing metal-free dual-reaction-center for efficient wastewater purification, by the Qian Yi Ruo Shui team from Guangzhou University, won the undergraduate grand prize, while Surface/interface structure design for high capacity-low voltage tin-based cathode of lithium ion battery, by the Tin-Lithium Era team from South China University of Technology, won the graduate grand prize. Each team won 10,000 RMB. Six more teams won first prizes, 22 teams second prizes and 91 teams third prizes, while 121 teachers were named excellent instructors.
Eight JNU teams advanced to the final defense, winning two first prizes and one second prize in the undergraduate group, and one first prize and four second prizes in the graduate group.

Since its inception in November 2010, the Guangdong University Student Materials Innovation Competition has been held for 12 years. With the scale and influence of the competition increasing year by year, it has become a representative and exemplary national innovation and entrepreneurship competition for university students.
Sun Yat-sen University will host the 13th Guangdong University Student Materials Innovation Competition.
