JNU Vice President Weng Jian and other leaders of administrative departments and relevant colleges attended the finals of the Laboratory Safety Knowledge Competition (LSKC) on March 23, hosted by JNU's Office of Laboratory and Equipment Management and organized by the College of Science and Engineering.
Weng said this competition is a specific measure to fully implement the spirit of adhering to the guideline of safety first and precaution crucial, establishing a framework for major safety and emergencies, and improving the public safety system to promote the transformation of public safety governance mode to precaution, as proposed by the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The competition aims to enable teachers and students to improve lab safety awareness, strengthen lab safety knowledge, and prevent lab safety accidents to better serve teaching and scientific research, he said.

The competition was launched in October. In the preliminary round, contestants submitted micro-videos and took a written examination online. A total of 115 teams from JNU registered for the competition, 12 of which reached the finals. After taking required questions, quick-response questions and risk questions (with points added for correct answers and deducted for incorrect ones) in sequence, four teams finished in the top four: one from the College of Pharmacy, two from the College of Life Science and Technology, and one from the Institute of Advanced Wear and Corrosion Resistant and Functional Materials. They will represent JNU in the first Intercollegiate Invitational Competition of Laboratory Safety Knowledge in Guangdong.
