JNU, the State Language Commission's National Center for Overseas Chinese Language Research, held a work exchange meeting and unveiling ceremony of the SLC Research Base from March 3 to 5 to improve research on Chinese language and political service. The meeting centered on enhancing research levels, expanding influence and building talent teams. It was hosted by Yang Wanbing and Zhang Li, associate deans in College of Chinese Language and Culture. Department leaders in the college, members of the National Center in Guangzhou and some part-time researchers off campus attended.

Guo Xi, director of the center, thanked JNU and the college for its longtime support of the center's work. Liu Hui, the center's assistant director, reported on its development in recent years. Since its establishment in 2005, she reported, with the joint efforts of all members after three-phase construction, the center has undertaken over 10 national key research projects, and over 40 provincial and ministerial projects. It has published more than 500 papers and more than 50 monographs, and presented more than 40 political counsel reports. The center has made a number of landmark achievements in Chinese language research, Chinese education and the related fields, she said. At the end of 2022, named National Language Commission Research Base.

Pan Qiliang, director of JNU's Social Science Research Department; Shao Yi, dean of the College of Chinese Language and Culture; and Xie Xuan, the college's Party secretary, attended the unveiling ceremony of the center as a National Language Commission Research Base. Center members exchanged research results of major national social science projects and offered suggestions for the center’s development.
