With the coming of 2023, we would like to extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to all faculty and staff members, students, retired comrades, board members and alumni at home and abroad. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to all segments of society at home and abroad for their concern and support for our school's development in 2022.

Over the last year, JNU has borne in mind the expectations of General Secretary XI Jinping. Under the strong leadership of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee, the Guangdong Party Committee and the Guangdong provincial government, JNU has adhered to the mission of fostering virtue through education and promoted its construction as a double-first-class and high-level university, improving JNU's comprehensive strength in school-running and contributing JNU’s strength to building a modern socialist country in all respects.

JNU has been committed to following Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, giving full play to the core leadership of the Party committee, and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. By doing so, JNU has made remarkable progress in building Party brands and advancing the full and rigorous Party self-governance in depth, thereby gathering a strong force to forge ahead on a new journey.

JNU has adhered to the mission of fostering virtue through education and improved the great ideological and political pattern, making itself more attractive to Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas; Chinese with foreign nationality, and international students. JNU has achieved new results in faculty construction. The school has also improved the quality of talent-training by constantly promoting connotative construction of undergraduate teaching and gradually deepening the reform in postgraduate education. JNU teachers and students have won multiple awards in competitions of all kinds.

JNU has continued to promote its construction as a double-first-class and high-level university and improved its comprehensive strength in school-running. It has successfully started a new round of double-first-class construction with 17 disciplines in the top 1% of the ESI. JNU's various authoritative rankings at home and abroad have steadily ascended; its influence at home and abroad has continuously expanded; it has made solid progress in leapfrog development.

JNU has persisted in serving China's strategies, actively promoting key core technologies and spreading excellent Chinese culture all over the world. It has earned a good reputation for disseminating Chinese culture to the international community with the inception of a cluster of think tanks serving national strategies based on the three national think tanks in the liberal arts for promoting the continuous development of Chinese language and culture education in the world.

JNU has continued to construct its campuses as one body with two wings. To create better learning and living environments for teachers and students, the second-phase of construction of the Panyu campus in Guangzhou is speeding up; the construction of Science and Technology Park on the Zhuhai campus is in full swing, and the Shenzhen campus is ready to proceed.

JNU has protected the physical and mental health of teachers and students; it has safeguarded campus safety and security by sticking to and refining pandemic prevention and control measures. Moreover, JNU has further improved its management, services, and institutions and mechanisms for school-running.

The year 2023 marks the beginning of the full implementation of the guiding principles laid down at the 20th CPC National Congress and is a key year for JNU to promote its construction as a double-first-class and high-level university. JNU will study and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, deepen its institutional reform and speed up its infrastructure construction. JNU will optimize the system for training three types of students; actively promote its construction as a double-first-class and high-level university; endeavor to support and serve China’s major strategies; and continuously increase teachers' and students' sense of fulfillment and happiness. Forging ahead with enterprise and fortitude, JNU will strive to write a more brilliant chapter in the development of higher education for overseas Chinese in the new era. It will also endeavor to make greater contributions to realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by uniting all Chinese people at home and abroad.

In the new year, we sincerely wish all teachers, students, staff members, school directors and alumni at home and abroad, and friends from all walks of life, a happy new year, good health, and happy families!
