She has published several papers in journals including Journalism and Communication Research, Modern Communication and Journalism University. She won the Outstanding Paper Award of the SJTU-ICA New Media International Forum (student group), the Best Paper Award of the China New Media Communication Annual Conference, and first prize in both the Yuwen Scholarship and the National Scholarship for undergraduates and master's degree students. Who is she? She is Chen Qiuyi, a master's candidate n network and new media in JNU's School of Journalism and Communication.
Like many freshmen, Chen Qiuyi was confused when she first arrived at JNU. We were the first class of students majoring in internet and new media, she said. Without the guidance of senior brothers and sisters, we really had many doubts.
When she first entered JNU, Chen Qiuyi encountered Associate Prof. Chen Zhizhong's social science research methods. This was the first time she thought systematically about social science research, and from this opportunity, she began to develop an interest in it. Later in her studies, she planned and organized various social research and data news production projects to improve her research abilities.
Talking about the road to scientific research, Chen Qiuyi mentioned her mentors: Associate Dean Tang Jingtai, Professor Gao Jingwen and Xing Chen, a senior student. Later, she was lucky enough to get the help of Associate Prof. Liu Qian and Associate Prof. Huang Yalan. She had practical training in data journalism and participated in a summer training camp on data mining jointly held by JNU and City University of Hong Kong.
In the first graduation project of the Network and New Media program, Chen Qiuyi's team operated a micro-blog account on data news. In just two months, it amassed a total of more than 7,000 followers, 25,000 retweets and more than 4 million views on both topics.

In addition to her schoolwork, she has rich internship experience. She has interned at an Internet company and a consulting firm, where she wrote research reports and produced data content.
Extensive reading and accumulation are very important in scientific research, Chen says, and inspiration for writing sometimes comes from the collision of different disciplinary perspectives.
Now she is working toward a doctorate at Fudan University, hoping to continue to improve her abilities in all aspects on the road of scientific research, make more attempts to stimulate her potential, and continue to produce high-quality news products.
Chen Qiuyi, who spent seven years at JNU, advised, “Make good use of the school platform, enter a collaborative system as early as possible, and find your own positioning and path through continuous cooperation with others.”
