The research team of Prof. Ye Wencai, researcher Zhang Dongmei and Associate Prof. Chen Minfeng in JNU’s College of Pharmacy has successively published research papers in full online in Gut (IF=31.8) and Journal of Clinical Investment (IF=19.5), authoritative international academic journals in the field of tumor pericytes. The papers are titled, respectively, “Novel TCF21high pericyte subpopulation promotes colorectal cancer metastasis by remodeling perivascular matrix” and “Targeting FAPα-expressing hepatic stellate cells overcomes resistance to anti-angiogenics in colorectal cancer liver metastasis models.”
The team achieved these original research results after publishing its research on tumor pericytes in the Journal of Clinical Investment (IF=19.5) in 2017 and the Journal of Extracellular Vehicles (IF=17.3) in 2021.

The research results have revealed the regulatory mechanism of pericytes in tumor metastasis and vascular targeted drug resistance. The team also discovered multiple new targets of tumor pericyte-targeted drugs, on the basis of which new pericyte-targeted drug candidates for anti-tumor have been developed. The team's series of research achievements has enriched the understanding of the heterogeneity and biological function of tumor pericytes and offers prospects for clinical application.
