The Engineering Research Center of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI), led by Gu Tianlong, a professor in JNU’s College of Cyber Security and deputy director of the Ministry of Education’s College Computer Teaching Steering Committee, has been approved for construction, according to the 2022 Notification of the Initiation of the Construction Program of the Engineering Research Center released by the ministry.
The center’s construction will be supported by the College of Information Science and Technology/College of Cyber Security. Its basic mission is to support major national strategic planning and economic construction, such as development plans for a new generation of artificial intelligence, the enhancement of safeguarding capacities in cyber security, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Focusing on research on such topics as the security, fairness, explainability, and stability of AI in tackling key problems in science and technology, the center aims to build an innovative research and development platform integrating scientific R&D, technological R&D, achievement transformation, strategic guidance, platform services, talent cultivation and technological think tanks. It is also hoped that the center will form a national strategic scientific and technological force with international influence based on the Greater Bay Area.
The approval confirms that JNU, with robust strength in scientific and technological R&D and first-class talent cultivation, has made great progress in information science and technology.
