When President Xi Jinping visited Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on Sept. 14 to attend the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Charoskhon Ziyaeva, a JNU student who holds a Chinese Government Scholarship, was invited to translate and interviewed by CCTV.
In the interview, Ziyaeva said she was pretty happy about President Xi's visit to Samarkand, hoping it would improve relations between China and Uzbekistan.
During the SCO Window event, locals could closely observe various Chinese ethnic costumes and traditional cultural activities such as lion dancing, dragon dancing, calligraphy and painting, gaining more understanding of Chinese culture. They expressed their love for Chinese culture and marveled at the speed of China's growth, saying Uzbekistan could learn from China in many aspects and calling the meeting a grand event focusing on friendship.
Ziyaeva, who has been studying Chinese since childhood, has a deep affection for Chinese culture. She received the Chinese Government Scholarship in 2020 and has been majoring in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages in JNU’s College of Chinese Language and Culture.
