Lin Haoyang, a 2021 graduate student in the Department of Optoelectronic Engineering of JNU's College of Science and Engineering, has won the 13th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award. The Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the All-China Youth Federation, the All-China Federation of Students and the National Permanent Standing Commission-Young Pioneers of China honored 89 students in colleges, primary schools and secondary schools from all over China for their strong spirit of exploration, practical ability and innovation potential. 

Lin was a member of the 2017 class in the Department of Optoelectronic Engineering. In 2021, he was recommended for master's degree study at JNU. The works he declared as the project leader have been awarded first prize in the 17th Challenge Cup's National University Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition; the Planet Prize in the Challenge Cup's Black Science and Technology Special Competition, and first prize in the eighth National University Students' Opt-Sci-Tech Competition. His research results have been reported by Legal Weekly and other media. Lin has published over 20 SCI papers, including four as first author. He holds three national invention patents and one Patent Cooperation Treaty Patent. He has made oral presentations at three international and domestic academic conferences and. In 2022, he won the New Academic Award for Graduate Students in the National Electronic Information Materials and Devices Conference.

The China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award is the highest honor encouraging youth science and technology innovation activities. The entire initial fund for the award was provided by Deng Xiaoping. Since its establishment in 2004, a total of 1,279 students have won the award.
