JNU's Xp0int team won the first prize and the cyber security challenge innovation prize in the 15th National College Student Information Security Contest's Innovation and Practical Ability Contest final, held in Tianjin on Aug. 23 and 24. The Xp0intJNU team won the third prize, with the total team points ranking first among universities in South China. Wei Linfeng from the College of Information Science and Technology/College of Cyber Security won the Outstanding Instructor Award.
The contest was hosted by the National Administry Committee on Teaching Information Security to Majors in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and organized by Nankai University.
A record 2,218 teams and 7,700 students from 495 universities in 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions participated in this year' contest, which began on April 29. Eighty-two teams made it to the finals to compete for the championship through a national online contest and eight regional contests across the country.

The contest aims to respond actively to national cyber security talent strategy; accelerate the pace of cultivating innovative talents in both offense and defense; enhance students' practical ability of network innovation in both offense and defense; cultivate students’ sense of innovation and team cooperation; popularize knowledge on information security, enhance students' awareness of information security; and improve students' innovative ability and practical skills in cyber security.
