JNU Vice President Hong An was elected deputy director of the ninth Guangdong Provincial Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) on June 26 during its conference in Guangzhou. The conference selected members and leaders of the ninth Guangdong Provincial Committee as well as representatives to attend CAPD's 13th National Representative Conference. Prof. Fan Suohai, chairman of the JNU Grassroots Committee and vice dean of the Jinan University-University of Birmingham Joint Institute, and Prof. Zheng Junyu, vice chairman of the JNU Grassroots Committee and vice dean of JNU's Institute for Environmental and Climate Research, were elected members of the ninth Guangdong Provincial Committee.

Also participating in the conference were Prof. Yang Guangren, vice chairman of the JNU Grassroots Committee and chairman of JNU's Department of Statistics; Associate Prof. Chen Tianshuo, vice chairman of the JNU Grassroots Committee and chairman of JNU's Department of Arts in General Education; and Yang Xiaoyu, a member of the JNU Grassroots Committee and a teacher in the Education College.
