JNU held its 2022 Commencement online and off on five campuses in three cities on June 21. JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng, President Song Xianzhong and other university leaders, as well as leaders of various departments and colleges and representatives of teachers and students, witnessed the graduates' success.

Leading the entrance of the professors with Jinan University's academic mace in hand, Prof. Gao Hao of the College of Pharmacy -- national model teacher, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and winner of the Chinese Youth Science and Technology Award -- opened the ceremony.

Song spoke and Lin declared the Decision of Jinan University on Honoring Outstanding Graduates of 2022 and other relevant award- and degree-granting decisions. The school leaders gave awards to the valedictorians, issued diplomas and turned the tassels for the graduates. Teachers, alumni and valedictorians also spoke.

This year, JNU's 8,581 graduates were awarded 4,055 bachelor's degrees, 4,056 master's degrees and 470 doctorates, with 682 winning honors and awards. At the ceremony, the valedictorians stepped on the stage one by one to receive their diplomas and be photographed with the professors, then passed through the degree gate, symbolizing their embarking on a new life journey. Graduates who could not be present attended online. 

On behalf of the school, Song congratulated on the successful completion of their studies and reviewed the moment when they first arrived at the campus.

Song said he hoped that the graduates, with the blessings and expectations of their alma mater, would forever stick to patriotism, perseverance and kindness, shine the bright light of Jinan University in the new era and new stage, and write the most beautiful new chapter of your life!”

The faculty and alumni representatives said they hoped the graduates would always hold a noble spirit and dare to chase their dreams. Undergraduate and graduate representatives shared their sense of pride, luck and happiness as Jinan people and expressed their deep gratitude to Jinan University.
