JNU held the Guangdong Universities' 2nd Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Students' Law Knowledge Q&A Contest on May 29. The contest was guided by the Guangdong Department of Education and the provincial government's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office. It was hosted by the Guangdong Universities Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Students Management Research Alliance and organized by JNU.
The contest consisted of three activities. In the first, My National Security Law and Me, each university team had to do a presentation on the theme. Using various forms such as making a speech or a recitation, performing a skit, singing a song, playing a musical instrument and dancing, 10 finalist teams showed their understanding and feelings toward national security, attracting warm applause from the audience. The second activity was a tag match of legal knowledge: by drawing lots, the 10 teams were randomly divided into five groups by drawing lots, who would face off, ending up with one group winning. The third activity was a quick-response competition on comprehensive knowledge. Each university' participants worked as a team to answer various forms of question, including texts, pictures, videos and audios.
The teams' overall performance was determined by both their scores in the third activity and the marks given by the judges. South China University of Technology won the grand prize. Sun Yat-sen University and Zhuhai College of Science and Technology were the first-prize winners. Second prizes went to Guangzhou University, Wuyi University and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. JNU won third prize, along with Southern Medical University, Shenzhen University and Guangdong University of Finance.
Since December, the competition had involved 4,000 participants in the preliminary round online, involving 41 universities.
