The monthlong first Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of the Leiting Cup held its awards ceremony on JNU's Zhuhai Campus on May 22.
Founded in 2004 but dormant for many years, JNU's Venture Lab for entrepreneurship and innovation resumed activities on Zhuhai Campus a year ago, supported by a donation of 10 million RMB from Zhai Jian, chairman of Leiting Games and a member of the first Venture Lab. The competition received positive responses from teachers and students, including 91 entrepreneurial teams of teachers and students who signed up for the competition, 66 faculty advisors and more than 560 competitors. After the preliminary, semifinal and final rounds, the competition presented 27 awards, with a record number of participants and innovations. It also attracted participation from the Zhuhai Promotion Association of Science and Technology Innovation, well-known enterprises and alumni.

JNU Vice President Zhang Hong, director of the Zhuhai Campus Management Committee, was full of praise for the competition. He said the event achieved a historic breakthrough, with one-tenth of Zhuhai Campus students participating and a quarter of its teachers involved in directing. Furthermore, the number of undergraduates who qualified for the finals accounted for one-fifth of the total participants, setting a new record.
