The fifth Interdisciplinary Forum on Lingnan Dialects of southern of China was held at Jinan University on May 10, with the theme Multidisciplinary Investigation of Lingnan Dialects: Exploration and Innovation of Interdisciplinary. The forum was hosted by JNU's Social Science Research Department and jointly organized by the Chinese Dialect Research Center and the Brain Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU. More than 200 JNU teachers and students attended onsite or online.
Gan Yuen, a researcher from JNU's Chinese Dialect Research Center, reported on Language Taboos: A Multidisciplinary Investigation from the Perspective of Lingnan Dialect and Culture. Gan extensively quoted and analyzed Lingnan dialect taboos from linguistic, geographical and cultural perspectives and openly shared opinions on language taboos in everyday life.
Chen Zhuoming, vice president of the Brain Hospital, spoke on Language and Cultural Conflict in the Construction of the Macao Language Platform. Chen highlighted the application, establishment and implementation of the platform's construction, presenting research results at the current stage. He also described his team's thinking and preliminary exploration of the problems faced in the platform's development from the perspectives of pedagogy, linguistics, psychology, artificial intelligence and cultural conflicts.
