Jinan University and Huaqiao University held their Joint Entrance Examinations in Guangzhou, Xiamen, Hong Kong and Macao on May 14 and 15. The exams are students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan; overseas Chinese; Chinese with foreign nationality and other international students. Participating were 4,206 students, 4,080 of whom applied to JNU as their first choice -- 622 more than last year -- for a record increase of 20%. JNU set up two examination spots in the Teaching Building and its affiliated middle school on the main campus as the main examination place in Guangzhou, with 3,329 participants.
Tougher Covid-19 prevention and control after outbreaks in several regions of China in March and the wide variety of candidates’ origins brought great challenges to the exam. On the first day, JNU Vice President Weng Jian, as the chief examiner, led his team to inspect the exam center in Guangzhou and Macao.
