On behalf of JNU, Zhang extended his sincere greetings and best wishes to the teachers and students at Rhodes University. He praised the institute for actively responding to Covid-19 and overcoming difficulties to continue Chinese teaching. He said he hoped members of the two universities could visit offline and jointly explore new cooperation once Covid-19 is contained.

Clayton said that since the outbreak of Covid-19, the institute had taken flexible measures to meet the challenges and actively organized various online teaching and cultural activities. He also said the university was grateful to JNU for providing it with anti-epidemic supplies.

Mwepu reviewed his work in 2021, and Liu reported on final accounts for 2021 and budgets for 2022. Both sides have fully discussed the institute’s 2022 work plan. Going forward, they will facilitate the sustainable development of Chinese education by working together to cultivate local teachers in South Africa and helping build the master’s degree program in Chinese at Rhodes.
