A press conference on Guangzhou's epidemic prevention and control on April 9 announced requirements for colleges and universities to implement closed-off management and launch online teaching. In line with these requirements, students should not leave campus unless necessary; faculty members may commute only between home and school, and the frequency of nucleic acid testing should be increased.
The night before, 60 volunteers for epidemic prevention team were recruited within two minutes. The team assembled and prepared for nucleic acid tests in five minutes.
JNU conducted nucleic acid tests for its faculty and students on several campuses in Guangzhou until early the next morning. The school clarified the volunteers' position and responsibility; classified their work; arranged their work sites; and established an exclusive line for the elderly at the detection sites at the gymnasium on all campuses.
On the evening of April 10, students of the East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University went to the detection sites in an orderly manner to take nucleic acid tests.
During the closing period, Sun Yat-sen students will not leave campus unless necessary, and day students will not return to campus, according to a notice issued by the university. If they need to leave or return to school under special circumstances, an application approval system will be adopted.
According to JNU's provisional requirements, the Shipai, Panyu and Guangyuan East campuses were closed for seven days, from April 11 to 17. Based on local epidemic prevention and control requirements, the Zhuhai and Shenzhen campuses may implement requirements accordingly.
Guangdong University of Foreign Studies has stipulated that the students should not leave school and faculty members should not leave Guangzhou unless necessary, and the latter must commute only between home and school.

Many universities in Guangzhou have implemented disinfection of all packages. The express site strictly carries out the daily inspection report system and independently stores packages from overseas and high-risk areas. After packages arrive at the school, the unified disinfection will be carried out again. To pick up the packages, students need to show their QR codes and have their temperatures taken before entering the express station.
