JNU attended the 2022 online university promotion College Entrance Examination: Voices From Leading Schools, an authoritative publicity platform for enrollment in college entrance examinations, on April 14. The program promotes new college entrance examination reform, publicizes the latest information on higher school admissions, and provides prompt information for candidates and parents about the faculty, school characteristics, learning and life at colleges and universities.

JNU is the first university for overseas Chinese founded by the government. It is a key comprehensive university listed in the double-first-class university project and a Guangdong high-level university, jointly constructed by the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Guangdong, under the direct management of United Front Work Department.

In its 116-year history, JNU has cultivated more than 400,000 outstanding talents from over 170 countries on five continents and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Every year, it offers admission to about 5,000 mainland students and about 2,500 overseas Chinese from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and international students through the college entrance examination. Today, JNU has 45,180 full-time students in JNU: 29,127 undergraduates and 16,053 graduate students. There are 13,580 overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students.
Among the university's 2,731 teachers are 8 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (including double-employed academicians); 8 foreign academicians; 21 teachers selected for the Major Talent Project led by the Ministry of Education; 43 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the Excellent Young Scientists Fund; 48 Pearl River Scholars; and 2 winners of the National Teacher Award. It has 902 professors, 1,064 associate professor, 1,160 doctoral supervisors and 2,218 postgraduate supervisors.
JNU offers flexible policies for changing majors and allows dual-degree programs. According to the regulations of its Office of Academic Affairs, students whose GPAs rank in the top 30% of students enrolled in the same year of their current majors may apply to change their majors across campuses or within their campus. Students whose GPAs rank from 31% to 50% may apply to change majors within their campus. In other words, 50% of students have the opportunity to change majors. JNU currently offers 850 general elective courses to meet students' learning interests and needs.

Highlighting internationalization in education, JNU encourages international exchange and cooperation. It has signed agreements with the University of Birmingham, the University of California, Riverside, the University of Chicago and other internationally renowned universities for joint education and student exchange programs.

JNU has a wide range of disciplines, including liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and medicine, with 38 colleges, 58 departments, 27 affiliated research institutes, 105 bachelor's degree programs, 41 master’s degree programs, 26 doctoral programs, 32 professional degree programs, 19 postdoctoral research faculties and a postdoctoral work station.
JNU has 1 national double-first-class discipline, 4 subdisciplines of national key disciplines, 8 subdisciplines of key disciplines of the State Council's Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, 2 subdisciplines of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine key disciplines, 22 first-level disciplines of Guangdong key disciplines, 12 subdisciplines of Guangdong key disciplines, and 1 interdisciplinary subject of Guangdong key disciplines. Thirteen disciplines have entered the world's top 1% of ESI subjects.

With over 100 student associations, the university organizes a variety of campus activities each year, including the Chinese Culture Festival, Cultural Journey, the International Culture in JNU, the International Food Festiva and, International Folk Dance Competition.
The Institute of Economic and Social Research enrolls 20 students each year in its international innovation class in economics through college entrance examination. The class's elite training methods include small-class teaching, integration of research and teaching, one-to-one tutoring, an English teaching model and internationalized faculty members. (Over 90% of the full-time faculty members graduated from prestigious overseas universities, including the University of Chicago, the University of California, Berkeley, and the London School of Economics and Political Science.) Nearly 60% of the Class of 2021 are continuing their studies at prestigious universities in China and abroad, including Duke University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the National University of Singapore.
The Institute of Photonics Technology, which enrolls 29 students each year in its Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering innovation class through college entrance examination, trains top-notch application-oriented talents and research talents with innovative thinking and ability.

In English-medium courses, JNU's International School takes the lead among key state-funded universities in mainland China. With internationally advanced educational vision and an excellent faculty, it has cultivated many professional talents catering to the needs of the job market in China and abroad; thus it is preferred by students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese and international students. The school boasts students from all over the world, an international faculty, plentiful movable study opportunities and international career prospects. Its graduates are highly recognized by the job market, as well as famous schools in China and abroad. Of its graduates, 30% have gone on to study at top overseas universities; 30% have been employed in cross-border enterprises, and 30% by foreign-related enterprises and public institutions. The school currently offers eight bachelor's degree programs: international economics and trade, accounting; clinical medicine Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery; food quality and safety; pharmacy; finance; computer science and technology; and international journalism.
