JNU Vice President Weng Jian and staff members from functional offices participated in the National Colleges Video Conference on Lab Safety, held by Ministry of Education on Feb, 25. During the conference, Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun gave instructions on college laboratory safety management. Representatives of the Guangdong Education Department, the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and universities shared their experiences in improving lab management and responsibility systems, advancing hazardous chemicals management and building risk-control system.

After the conference, Weng put forward four requirements to promote lab safety: 

•Raising awareness of, and attaching great importance to, lab safety work and conscientiously implementing the spirit of the conference. 

•Focusing on prevention, paying attention to checking and controlling potential safety hazards.

•Improving lab safety management procedures, conducting effective emergency response drills and training.

•Establishing a long-term mechanism and fulfilling responsibilities level by level to build a solid defensive line for lab safety
