With support from the Student Office and Graduate School, the Overseas Friendship Association of JNU organized students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to participate in a series of activities from Jan. 31 to Feb. 15 celebrating the Spring Festival. The activities focused on solidarity of young people from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Highlighting friendship and unity, the event illustrated the progress of these four areas by focusing on the stories of their young people.
On Jan. 31, 35 students participated in a carnival themed The Year of Tiger: A Bright Future. They performed in five shows---Take It, Great Winds Blow, Young People of Datian, The Season of the Wind” and Young China. The activity was covered by media including People's Daily, Yangcheng Evening News, Macao Daily and Guangdong Mobile Channel.
On Feb.12, at a sharing session on the theme “Bridge the Greater Bay Area for a Shared Future,” students listened to experiences contributing to the integration and promoting the realization of the GBA dream shared by its young people. During the session, JNU alumnus Cai Zhanpeng, an advertising graduate of School of Journalism and Communication, spoke about his learning at JNU and entrepreneurship in the GBA.
During the Lantern Festival on Feb.15, 18 students jogged around the lake in Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park to cheer for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and boost Hong Kong's morale in combatting COVID-19. Believing that unity will defeat the pandemic, these jogging students hoped to encourage the Olympians and stir up Hong Kong's strength to fight the pandemic.
