The team of Prof. Mai Yaohua, Associate Researchers Liu Chong and Wu Shaohang, and doctoral student Zhang Cuiling in JNU's Institute of New Energy Technology has reported a breakthrough in the study of scaled flexible perovskite photovoltaic module. Tested and certified by the National PV Industry Measurement and Testing Center, aperture-area efficiency of the team’s flexible perovskite photovoltaic modules has achieved 19.21% (20.20% of effective area efficiency) under Standard Solar Test Condition, the world's highest reported conversion efficiency in this field. At the same time, the sample in the research showed excellent stability in the maximum power point tracking.

Mai's team, which has long engaged in the scientific research and industrialization of solar photovoltaic materials and devices, has made many breakthroughs in the field of perovskite solar cells and cadmium telluride solar cells in recent years. In October, the perovskite photovoltaic module made by the team on the glass substrate, certified by the National PV Industry Measurement and Testing Center, achieved an aperture area efficiency of 21.37%, the highest efficiency reported at that time. In December, the team's cadmium telluride solar cells achieved a certified conversion efficiency of 20.16%, one of the highest in the world.
