A project of Prof. Li Dan of JNU's College of Chemistry and Materials Science has been approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China for Original Exploration Projects with a grant of 300 million yuan. The project, titled Design and Synthesis of Propane/Propylene Reverse Selective Separation materials, is JNU's first project approved by the Original Exploration Projects, demonstrating the university's new progress in basic research original exploration.
The project has received much attention for its low energy consumption and simple operation through selective adsorption separation technology for porous materials. This project's preliminary research results have been published in Nature (Nature, 2021, 595, 542-548), and the original academic idea behind it has received recommendations and advice from several experts.
The National Natural Science Foundation added Original Exploration Projects in 2020 to implement Several Opinions of the State Council on Comprehensively Strengthening Basic Scientific Research, which aimed to elevate creativity. These projects are targeted at cultivating or producing groundbreaking original leading achievements; solving scientific difficulties; leading related research; expanding research range; and supplying high-speed, and high-quality development in China's basic research.
