Four JNU faculty members shared the 16th Dingying Science and Technology Award, presented on Nov. 8 at the Guangdong Science Center. The award ceremony, co-hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology, the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology the Guangdong Academy of Sciences and the China Academy of Sciences’ Guangzhou branch, honored the 2021 Guangdong Most Honorable Science and Technology Workers, rural science and technology special correspondents advanced organization and implementation units, and excellent rural science and technology correspondents.

With four winners -- Ding Yu, researcher of the College of Science and Engineering; He Rongrong, a professor in the School of traditional Chinese medicine; Zhou Zhen, director of the Institute of Atmospheric Environment Safety and Pollution Control; and Mo Cehui, deputy secretary of the College of Life Science and Technology -- JNU ranked first in the province, a record for the school. To date, 13 people from JNU have won the Ding Ying Science and Technology Award, approved by the provincial government in 1989 and established in the name of the famous scientist Ding Ying. Given every two years, it aims to carry forward and further develop Ding's spirit and to reward young and middle-aged talents who have made outstanding contributions to Guangdong's economic construction, social development and technological progress. This year there were 30 winners.
This award ceremony has publicly commended 100 excellent rural science and technology correspondents and 13 rural science and technology correspondents’ organization and implementation units. Wang Chao, an associate professor in JNU College of Science and Engineering; Guo Hongfei, an associate professor in the School of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering; and Mou Zhiwei, an attending physician at the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU, were named the first group of Excellent Rural Science and Technology Correspondents of the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology. With the theme of promoting high-quality development of rural areas, rural science and technology, correspondents have pushed forward all-around rural vitalization.
