The National Observation Practice Group Legal Aid for Elders from JNU's Law School and Intellectual Property School was named the provincial key team in the 2021 Guangdong University and Technical College Student Volunteer Summer Culture, Technology and Health. The Guangdong Students’ Federation announced the list on Sept. 26.
According to National Bureau of Statistics, the number of Chinese 60 or older reached 253.88 million in 2020 -- 18.7 % of its total population. China is expected to have 300 million people over 60 by 2025, making it a super-aged country. To meet the urgent need to address the aging population, the practice group established an elder-care team. Through online and offline investigations, the team explored “Cloud Elder Care,” a new service system, in efforts to build an intelligent elder service platform bringing more humanistic care.
To respond to the calls for extracurricular practice activities such as Three Ways of Going Countryside and Returning Home, team members conducted community research in Guangzhou and Foshan, two major cities in Guangdong, visiting many nursing homes and senior centers.
