JNU has been approved for four projects as part of international cooperation bases for science and technology established by the Guangdong Science and Technology Department in 2021. Ten projects were established in the province, each with funding of 1 million yuan. JNU's projects are International Joint Research Centers for Tumor Precision Drug Discovery and Diagnosis Analysis; Active Natural Product Discovery and Biosynthesis; China-New Zealand Food Safety and Nutrition Security; and Smart Logistics in the Greater Bay Area and 'the Belt and Road'.
The tumor drug center, led by Prof. Ding Ke of the College of Pharmacy, has collaborated with four institutions -- the University of Auckland in New Zealand, the University of Liege in Belgium, the Free University of Amsterdam and the University of Macau --to conduct innovative research on key technologies for precision drug discovery, design, diagnosis and treatment.
Active Natural Product Discovery and Biosynthesis center, led by Professor Gao Hao of the School of Pharmacy, collaborating with the University of Tokyo, Japan, is committed to the efficient exploration and utilization of active natural products and promote the development of green manufacturing of biological drugs in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The food safety and nutrition security center is led by Prof. Wu Xiyang of the College of Science and Engineering. It collaborates with the University of Lincoln and Massey University, both in New Zealand, on key technologies for rapid detection and control of biohazards in dairy and aquatic products, as well as carrying out research in technologies for detection and photodynamic non-thermal sterilization.
The logistics center, led by Prof. Ting of the School of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, collaborates with the University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, the University of Macau, Carthage University Tunis and Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania. Its mission is to solve the core problem of production-logistics operation in the integration of industry and trade in the Greater Bay Area under cross-border e-commerce, which promotes the intelligent upgrade of logistics.
