On Sept. 9, the day before the 37th national Teacher's Day, the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Government held its 2021 Teacher's Day Celebration and Recognition of Excellent Teachers Conference to honor teachers and educators with the titles Nanyue Excellent Teacher and Nanyue Excellent Educator.

In a decision jointly issued by several Guangdong government departments and organizations, five teachers from JNU -- Chen Shaoling of the School of Economics, Chen Zhizhong of the School of Journalism and Communication, Nie Hong of the College of Pharmacy, Sun Li of the School of Medicine Science and Zhu Siqi of the College of Science and Engineering -- were named Nanyue Excellent Teachers, Wei Haiying in the School of Management was named Nanyue Excellent Educator.

These honors aim to enhance teachers' and educators' sense of honor and responsibility; attract more talents to education; and encourage teachers and educators to make greater contributions to accelerating the modernization of national education, building a strong education province, and improving education to satisfy the people.
