The national final of the second National Chemistry Experiment Innovation and Design Competition for College Students, co-hosted by the Chinese Chemical Society and the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, was held on Aug. 27. Three JNU undergraduates -- Chen Yizhong, Sun Chengbo and Kuang Yuhao from the 2020 class of the College of Chemistry and Materials Science (CCMS) -- won first place, coached by Dr. Feng Pengju, a researcher, and Liao Xiaojian, senior experimenter, in the college.

More than 800 teams competed in the first round from seven sites across China. Two three-member teams from JNU (Chen, Sun and Kuang, and Yuhao, Cao Zheng, Wu Yan and Hu Shiyu) both won first place in the Southern Region finals.
